Bill Earl Youth Fishing Event

If you are in the Lansing area, a great youth fishing opportunity is right around the corner. The Bill Earl Youth Fishing Event sign up has just opened and they are offering three dates in May this year! This event is for ages 5 and up and was so much fun for our two kiddos. In years past it has filled up, so make sure to sign up as soon as you can!

Last year we signed up for May 13th, held at Hawk Island Park in Lansing. New participants receive a box of tackle, bait and a rod and reel for free! Our daughter was one of the younger participants and had a lot of help learning to cast, tying knots and setting up her fishing pole. They have different stations for the kids to visit for about 20 minutes each including casting, know tying, a DNR presentation about fishing rules and a pond water exploration area. After the stations, families can head out to the pond for some fishing! Even if you are not a fisherman, there are lots of people around to help out, so you don’t even need to touch the fish!

The weather was very cold and very windy for May and we decided not stay for the fishing portion of the event. We will definitely be participating again and hopefully have some time fishing this year!

The volunteers were so great with our kids and were a joy to work with.

Hope to see you there!
